We are Indigenous, non-Indigenous, trans and cis health professionals, perinatal care providers, obstetricians and gynaecologists, academics and researchers. The purpose of this brief communication is to share a recent event in Aotearoa New Zealand concerning the proposed amendment bill to legally define ‘woman’ and ‘man’. Our aim is to highlight how, if passed, this bill will negatively impact equitable health outcomes and how the Obstetrician and Gynaecology profession might want to respond.

GDPR has been in effect since the 25th May 2018, replacing previous data protection legislation, with the aim of making all data collection, storage and use more transparent. Companies and organisations that do not comply with the new regulations face heavy fines and penalties.
