Some cities pour millions into cycle lanes but then ignore the final metre. Finnish firm Biketti aims to fix that with wooden storage solutions. The units come in various sizes, holding between 10 and several hundred bikes. They keep cycles safe and offer self-service access for repairs and cleaning. Some also feature storage for helmets and clothing.

The annual Milan Design Week is the industry’s most significant event and the Salone del Mobile trade fair – its main attraction – draws more than 300,000 attendees to the Lombard capital. In 2025 the fair and activities connected to it generated €278m. This year, alongside displays of design excellence by automotive brands, fashion labels and cultural institutions, fresh products were launched and ideas for future designs presented in the city’s showrooms, galleries and houses.

It’s a sign of the times that no major international cultural event seems to be complete any more without an accompanying culture war. At the Venice Biennale, conflict has arisen over Russia’s return to the event. The current hotbed of discontent? The south of France, where the Cannes Film Festival is taking place.
