1 INTRODUCTION Long discontinuous fiber (LDF) reinforced pellets are a class of discontinuous composite preform obtained through pultrusion1 where a fiber tow is impregnated by the matrix polymer and chopped into cylindrical pellets of a uniform length. These pellets are then mixed and melted in a single screw extruder that comprises a helical screw inside a hollow cylindrical barrel that is heated externally.
