1 Introduction The diaphragm is a large, dome-shaped musculofibrous structure located at the base of the thoracic cavity. It is made up of the non-contractile central tendon and muscle fibers that radiate centrifugally from the central tendon [1, 2]. The left and right hemidiaphragms are innervated by the ipsilateral phrenic nerves which originate from the anterior rami of the cervical nerve roots C3, C4, and C5 [3].
