Abstract Antihypertensive and cardiac medications prescribed to pregnant women, including Ca2+ channel blockers (CCBs), α- and β-adrenergic receptor antagonists, and α-adrenergic receptor agonists enter the fetal circulation, with unknown effects on the fetoplacental vasculature. We investigated whether these medications alter human fetoplacental vascular tone and placental perfusion.

Nanoparticles (NPs) ranging in size between 1 and 100 nm pose a significant threat to public health due to their ability to cross physiological barriers and induce toxic effects (Yu et al., 2023). Pollutant NPs are chemically organic or inorganic and derived from natural or anthropogenic sources. They present a unique risk because they can enter the systemic circulation directly from the environment through inhalation and ingestion routes (Gupta & Xie, 2018).
