My first job as a journalist was interning with IndigenousX while I studied at Notre Dame University.

I feel social media is changing news by engaging more with the younger generations and informing people faster.

My favorite fictional journalist would have to be Andy Sachs from The Devil Wears Prada.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
For me being a journalist means being a trusted person who can share other people's stories with the rest of the community.

Hmmm nothing comes to mind right now.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
I prefer to be emailed rather than a phone call as I like as many details as possible about a potential story idea.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
The tools that I use the most are my recorder app on my iPhone, Google Docs for writing, my notepad, and a good pen.

Instagram because I like watching content about my interests/hobbies.
Who do you wish followed you?
I would have to say Stan Grant because I am a huge fan of his work not just as a journalist but as a writer also.
Why did you become a journalist?
I became a journalist because I wanted to help make a difference and I felt that telling other peoples stories was a good way to do this.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No, I did not as we did not have one.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
The story that I am most proud of writing and working on would be Top End Constable Ozzie and life as a bush cop.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Don't let anyone tell you that you're not a journalist, if this is the industry you want to be in then you need to believe you are one first.
When's the best time to pitch you?
I would say after 10.00am as I feel that is when I check my work emails the most.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
The best pitch I ever got was for the Nura Diya opening at Taronga Zoo because I enjoyed going there and seeing it for myself in person.

I'd rather not say.
What's your favorite drink?
I don't drink but my go-to coffee is a soy flat-white.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Either in a bookstore, at home watching a movie, or spending time with my family.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
My favorite publications to read would be the Sydney Morning Herald, The Guardian, and the ABC.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
I think that it's all tragedy stories when in reality it's about showing the achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
