Inaugural Sydney Chief Digital Officer Summit Sells Out!
Organizers for the inaugural Sydney CDO Summit, presented by Accenture Digital, have announced that sales have exceeded expectations and that the event, hosted at the UTS Business School in Sydney on 1 March 2016, has completely sold out of tickets. In October, I had the good fortune to be an IBM Analytics Insider at IBM’s World of Watson event in Las Vegas. Almost 20,000 people attended, packing all three floors of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center and the T-Mobile Arena to hear keynotes by such luminaries as Pulitzer Prize winner Thomas Friedman and IBM Chair and CEO Ginni Rometty, as well as musical guests Imagine Dragons. The event offered a first-hand look at IBM’s new announcements and exciting developments.

The first time most people heard of Watson, IBM’s artificially intelligent computer, was when it won the quiz show Jeopardy against two brilliant former (human) champions in 2011. A few years later, Watson moved on to a more ambitious challenge: the cure for cancer. In partnership with the Baylor College of Medicine, Watson looked through thousands of pages of medical research literature to identify dozens of potential ways to target cancer-linked proteins.
Three digital publishing lessons from nine years at HBR
The goal was to build a digital publishing division that leveraged the best of HBR (great ideas, editorial team, and brand), but adapted the brand to the digital world on a totally different scale. HBR had always reached hundreds of thousands; with the web, it could reach millions. But how? CDO Club Identifies the Top Ten Most Influential Chief Digital Officers on Klout
Who are the most influential online Chief Digital Officers (CDOs)? According to newly released data from the CDO Club and the influence ranking site Klout, two CDOs are tied as number one: Sree Sreenivasan, Chief Digital Officer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, along with Jason Hirschhorn, former CDO at MTV. Both have earned a Klout score of 81. The number two spot is held by Stephen Gillett, former CDO of Best Buy, whose score is 79.
