Around this team last season, the Dallas Cowboys were a hot mess. They started out 3-5, fans were calling for the coach’s jobs and it didn’t look like this team was going to be playing in January. Yet, they made a trade for Amari Cooper during their bye-week and the team rebounded to a division title. A year later, the Cowboys eerily find themselves in a similar situation and then go and trade for a player during the bye. Will Michael Bennett be this year’s Cooper?
DSF Top 20 Current Athletes: #3 Cowboys QB Dak Prescott

On draft weekend in 2016, the Dallas Cowboys selected Dak Prescott with a 4th round pick and some speculated he could one day be the starter.
Horned Frogs trampled by Ponies; TCU falls to SMU 41-38
The question to who is the best team in DFW was answered and Fort Worth’s team didn’t make the cut. The SMU Mustangs (4-0) upset the TCU Horned Frogs (2-1), 41-38 Saturday afternoon at Among G. Carter Stadium. For SMU, it was evident early on they wanted to be the aggressor. On their first drive, the Mustangs pulled some trickery and gained 46 yards on a fake reverse, which led to Buechele hitting Kyle Granson down the field into TCU territory.
TCU dominates Purdue 34-13 on the road
After a lackluster performance to start the season, Texas Christian University (2-0) went on the road and took down Purdue (1-2) and halted their highly-touted offense, 34 to 13 in West Lafayette, Indiana. Entering the game, the question was whether or not the TCU defense could stop the passing attack of the Purdue Boilmakers, an offense ranked second in the nation with a deadly receiving threat in Rondale Moore.
3 main Issues Cowboys must fix to be contender in 2019
The offseason was not a fun one for most fans of America’s Team as talks of contracts and holdouts dominated the headlines. All-Pro running back Ezekiel Elliott’s struggle with the Dallas Cowboys’ front office completely overshadowed the fact that the team was a true contender this year and how special this roster can be.
TCU blows out UAPB 39-7; despite offensive issues
It was another home opening victory for the TCU Horned Frogs (1-0) as they beat the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluffs (0-1) 39-7 Saturday Night at Amon G. Carter Stadium. Going into the game, it wasn’t clear who the main quarterback was going to be but both were going to have plenty of chances to prove they should be the main guy. While head coach Gary Patterson alternated between quarterbacks, the offense seemed to struggle to gain any traction in the first half.
Positive Jaylon Smith rewarded with new contract; Proves doubters wrong
Finally, the Dallas Cowboys extended a player during training camp! No, it wasn’t Amari, Dak or Zeke but rather the linebacker that has quickly becoming a fan favorite, Jaylon Smith. Smith, the 34th overall player taken in the 2016 NFL draft, signed a new 5-year contract extension worth $64 million with the Cowboys. Smith will have $35.5 million of the contract guaranteed with him seeing $20 million in the next 16 months in the form of signing bonuses and base salary.

Fans of the Dallas Cowboys are giddy now with some much positive reports coming out of camp in Oxnard, California. It should be noted that its usually always positive during training camp but you can tell that there are some difference-makers making a name for themselves so far early into camp. Here are 3 positive developments from camp and a not so good one as well. Positive #1: Xavier Woods has long been known as the guy that has the potential but nothing to show for it.

Sean Lee might want to forget about the 2018 season. The former All-Pro linebacker faced multiple injuries once again and then saw his starting job given to an outstanding rookie in Leighton Vander Esch. There was even speculation that Lee would be cut by the Dallas Cowboys in the off-season to save money. Yet, Lee agreed to a major pay cut to stay with the only team he has known.
Secondary limbo: Jourdan Lewis looks for role in crowded DB room
Cornerback Jourdan Lewis brought excitement with him when he was drafted and fans loved his potential. His exciting plays at Michigan were on their minds and the hope was he would bring that magic to Dallas. Going into year 3, there is no magic and Lewis is in limbo on this Cowboys’ roster. Since Lewis doesn’t necessarily fit the player defensive backs coach Kris Richard likes, Lewis has found himself on the outside of the playing rotation.

Training camp kicks off in a few weeks for the Dallas Cowboys and there are still a lot of questions for this team. One of the biggest questions is the safety group coming into the 2019 season. Safety has plagued the team for years as they look for consistency at the position. While the free safety position looks to be locked down by up-and-coming star Xavier Woods, the strong safety position is still up for grabs. At least three players could vie for the starting spot.

It has been an off-season of positives for the Dallas Cowboys as they prepare for the 2019 campaign. While a lot of people are excited about the new direction of the offense and some of the upgrades on defense, the special teams really hasn’t gotten much attention. With how poorly the overall unit played last season, this needs to be a unit that steps up their game in 2019. One of the biggest reasons why the special teams struggled was the addition of a new kicker, Brett Maher.
3 crucial Cowboys for team success in 2019
As they prepare for the 2019 season, the Dallas Cowboys have a shot to replicate their success from a year ago and try to get this team to a level it hasn’t seen since the late 90s. The media is hyping the team up saying it has the pieces to contend for a championship. They may look legit on paper, but they need to execute on the field. For this to be a successful season, here are three players that need to have a great season if this team is to take the next step.

A major decision looms for the Dallas Cowboys this off-season as they have to deal with the contract of their starting quarterback Dak Prescott. Some argue that he has earned the right to an extension and that paying him now would save the team a lot of money in the long run. The other option would be simply to just let him play out the final year of his deal and see if he is truly worthy of being the face of the franchise.

Emotions of happiness, excitement and horror were all flashing before Cowboys’ fans as the NFL released the 2019 schedule this week. Before the schedule was released, everyone knew who they were going to play anyways and that it would be a tough outing. The Cowboys would get a first-place schedule, meaning they would face other teams that also finished in first place in their divisions. They also have to play their own division foes, the AFC East and the NFC North.

It has been 17 years since the Dallas Cowboys valued drafting a safety with one of their top-2 picks. Back in 2002, the Cowboys selected safety Roy Williams from Oklahoma and he was a reliable starter for most of his career here. The team has struggled to really replace him since and the ones they draft seem to flame out quick. With a deep safety class this season in the draft, this should be the year they finally get a guy to solidify their backfield.

The NFL off-season continues to churn along towards the NFL Draft, the highlight of all football fans year outside of the actual season. Cowboys’ fans are actually excited about it since the front-office has been pulling out some great drafts in recent years. This year is going to be even more special thanks to bargain spending of Stephen Jones.

What a difference a year makes! Just a year ago, the Dallas Cowboys started free agency by putting quarterback Dak Prescott in a very bad spot with little to no weapons at his disposal. Now, Dak might have one of the more explosive offenses when healthy surrounding him. Going into last year, the Cowboys’ front office went about a philosophy of shared success at the receiver position. This was done in the aftermath of the release of former All-Pro receiver Dez Bryant.
Tank Lawrence has ultimate leverage with Cowboys
As the NFL is busy making moves by either free agency or trades, teams are drastically trying to get better. Yet, the Dallas Cowboys is one team that seems content to stay pat with their current roster and making only slight additions. I know the fan base isn’t too thrilled about this direction, but I am. The best way to build your team is through the draft and making only small bargain buys that fills the holes on your team. This theory works, as long as you sign your OWN free agents.
Earl not worth it for the Cowboys
Remember the love affair the Dallas Cowboys had with Seahawks safety Earl Thomas? 2018 was the year of back-and-forth messages that fueled speculation of where Thomas would end up. His season-ending injury in October ended all the mess, but now he is a free agent and the speculation is back. For the Cowboys’ sake, they need to squash this affair before it begins again. There are many good to great reasons why Earl Thomas would be a quality addition to any team’s defensive unit.
Texas Legends no match for Memphis Hustle; lose 115-94 at home
Back to back losses have now hit the Texas Legends (13-24) as they fall to the Memphis Hustle (20-16) 115 to 94 Saturday night in Frisco, Texas. The game was pretty close at the end of the first quarter, but the Hustle would go on a major run building up a 25-point lead going into halftime. The Legends could only muster up 16 points in that quarter. “We weren’t there mentally,” Kostas Antetokounmo said.
Garrett being set up to Fail?
Super Bowl week was supposed to be a quiet week for the Dallas Cowboys but this team is never quiet. On Thursday afternoon, multiple reports confirmed that the Cowboys would not extend head coach Jason Garrett at this time and would let him coach on his final year of his contract. The stakes in 2019 just got much bigger. Garrett getting an extension was a forgone conclusion by many fans and media members alike.
Cowboys need to break Divisional Round curse
The Cowboys won a playoff game for the first time in four years! The fans are celebrating and the football world is giddy when the Cowboys are good. Yet, this is a short-lived moment, because the Cowboys aren’t getting past the divisional round. That statement has been true for 23 years and it hasn’t changed one-bit. Yes, the Dallas Cowboys won on Saturday night in convincing fashion, showcasing their dominant defense and the winning gene that their quarterback and running back show off.
Predictions for Cowboys-Seahawks Wild Card battle
Ehsan Azad: Despite the dramatic up-and-down season, the Dallas Cowboys finally got back into the postseason with a talented team ready to make a run. Is this the perfect team? No, not even close. The offense continues to struggle to score points, the offensive line isn’t the same as it has been in recent years and the quarterback has been as erratic as the season itself. Yet, the team made plays when it needed and now they are hosting a home playoff game.
Dallas Wings are at 500 following a 94-90 victory vs Seattle
During the first quarter, the Dallas Wings jumped all over the Seattle Storm to tune of a 34 to 20 lead after one. In the second it did not fair any better for the Storm as the lead grew to 30 points at one point, but they would cut the lead to 17 going into the half with the score being 36 to 53. The Wings were led by their two stars guard Skylar Diggins Smith who would finish the game with 27 points, seven assists, and five rebounds.
This Day in Mavs History: Dallas punches its ticket to 2011 NBA Finals
Nobody will ever forget the pain of the 2006 NBA Finals. Especially not Mavs legends Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry. Once the 2010-2011 season rolled around, they were the only two players still on the team from the franchise’s only run to the Finals back in 2006. Along with the rest of the gritty, veteran-led Dallas Mavericks, the opportunity to return to that same stage that pained them so badly before presented itself on this day back in 2011.

The Dallas Mavericks finished out the 2017 -2018 season with a record of 24-58. This morning the team had its annual exit interviews to reflect on what went wrong this season and where the team needs to improve in the offseason. Dirk Nowitzki announced yesterday that he plans on coming back for what would be a record 21st season with one franchise. He sat out the remaining five games of the season, as he prepares for offseason surgery on his left ankle.
What kind of punishment can Dallas expect in wake of scandal?
These are dark days for the Dallas Mavericks. On Tuesday, Sports Illustrated broke the story of Dallas’ “corrosive” culture of sexual harassment, a tale that has rocked the NBA world and shaken the proud franchise to its core. In light of the Mavericks letting not one, but two potentially dangerous sexual predators roam unchecked in the halls of the American-Airlines Center, it’s fair to wonder what the league and commissioner Adam Silver will do in response.

MANSFIELD, Texas (AP) — You won't find many little boys who aren't obsessed with dinosaurs. Before now, you probably wouldn't find any who could claim to have discovered one. The Dallas Morning News (http://bit.ly/1aJXuYA ) reports that on Tuesday, Southern Methodist University scientists helped a Dallas zookeeper and his 5-year-old son excavate a fossil they found last fall behind a Mansfield shopping center.

Tim Brys, who works at the Dallas Zoo, found the 100 million-year-old fossil with his son Wylie on a patch of land behind a grocery store at Matlock Road and Debbie Lane.
