Eileen Guo is an independent print journalist based in New York City. She covers the communities on the fringe for publications such as The New York Times, Nikkei Asian Review, and Wired, among others. Before turning to journalism, Eileen spent two and a half years in Kabul, Afghanistan, where she founded Impassion Afghanistan, the country's first digital media agency, and Paiwandgah, Afghanistan's largest citizen journalism platform. Later, she served as the launch editor of Innovations Online for the MIT Press Innovations Journal. For her work in Afghanistan, she was appointed to the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on Social Media, and was named one of 33 Foreign Policy Leaders Under 33 by Diplomatic Courier magazine. Eileen speaks and reports in Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, and limited Persian.
