Abstract Purpose: Polyhandicap, known as Profound Intellectual Multiple Disabilities, is characterized by profound intellectual impairment and severe motor deficits, leading to a high level of dependence. Caring for these individuals has specific stressors, including lack of patient feedback or recognition, frequent unfavorable clinical trajectories, and complex relationships with families.

Public Health Policy Abstract Background There are few studies that objectively describe the care trajectories of individuals with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities (PIMD/polyhandicap). This study aims to provide an initial description of these care trajectories from birth to 18 years. Methods The cross-sectional study used data from the French cohort (EVALuation PoLyHandicap, EVAL-PLH) of individuals with PIMD/polyhandicap.
We focused on individuals with extreme phenotypes of resistance to immune conversion following stimulation with Mtb-related antigens in vivo or in vitro, a clinical correlate for resistance to Mtb infection in cohort studies of exposed individuals [36, 44, 46]. We defined extreme phenotypes as negativity to TST and persistent negativity to IGRA despite high exposure due to high endemicity settings and high vulnerability due to HIV infection.
