What was your first job as a journalist?
I worked on the ZweigLetter, a business management best practices and market intel newsletter for the AEC industry.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes. Not for work, but we had one when I was growing up.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Being a journalist means witnessing life as it happens and telling your readers what you experience.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Macbook, Word, email, the Internet, and sometimes Excel. Social media comes in handy sometimes too.
What's your favorite social network?
Facebook. It's where my friends are.

Why did you become a journalist?
I became a journalist because I have an insatiable need to write about the world as I experience it. I hope that my work helps other people.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I wrote a feature profile of Voices of Rwanda founder Taylor Krauss for SWIMMER magazine--very meaningful stuff and an honor to write
When's the best time to pitch you?
Anytime via email, but emails tend to get buried in the pile if they arrive after 6pm.
What's your favorite drink?
Beer!
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
In the water swimming long distances.
