A 77-year-old offender with 470 previous convictions has been sentenced to two months in jail after he told Luas staff to ‘f**k off’ and called them ‘pricks’. Paddy McCann, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty before Judge Anne Watkin at Dún Laoghaire District Court to engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour at Central Park Luas stop in Leopardstown, Dublin 18, on June 29. The court heard that he repeatedly swore at Luas staff, telling them to “f**k off” and calling them “pricks”.

Woman accused of stabbing partner with chef's knife refused bail

A woman in her 30s accused of stabbing her partner with an eight-inch chef’s knife has been remanded in custody, after a judge said there was a “huge” likelihood of a further serious incident if she was released on bail. The woman appeared before Judge Anne Watkin at Dún Laoghaire District Court charged with assaulting her partner and causing him harm at a residence in Co Dublin on July 25, contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences against the Person Act 1997.

A 22-year-old man is alleged to have shouted, ‘come out, you Indians, I’ll show you,’ before he is accused of launching an unprovoked racist attack on two men outside a Tesco supermarket. Kian Kelly, of Nunnery Lane, New Ross, Co Wexford, appeared before Judge Anne Watkin at Dún Laoghaire District Court in connection with the alleged incident at Grand Parade, Cherrywood, Dublin 18, on March 14 last.
