They look almost identical, but they certainly don't sound the same. Scientists have confirmed that one type of a well-known toad is actually a genetically distinct Canadian species. The stocky, warty Western toad is anything but new to West Coasters. In fact, the amphibian is widely dispersed across Western Canada and the United States, with a range from British Columbia to Alberta, down to California.
