1. Introduction In recent years, the impact of heavy metals on musculoskeletal health has been significantly investigated [1,2]. Several pieces of evidence have shown that the presence of heavy metals negatively influences bone quality by damaging the microarchitecture and structural integrity [3], whereas knowledge regarding the effect of heavy metals on muscle tissue is still rather limited.
