Retrograde signals control dynamic changes to the chromatin state at photosynthesis-associated loci - Nature Communications
Abstract Retrograde signalling networks originating in the organelles dictate nuclear gene expression and are essential for control and regulation of cellular energy metabolism. We investigate whether such plastid retrograde signals control nuclear gene expression by altering the chromatin state during the establishment of photosynthetic function in response to light.
Celebrating 50 Years of SEBP: The Spanish Society of Plant Biology
This special issue of Physiologia Plantarum commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Spanish Society of Plant Biology (“Sociedad Española de Biología de Plantas”, SEBP), honoring five decades of scientific innovation, collaboration, and community-building in plant biology. It is both a celebration of our shared history and a recognition of the colleagues who laid the foundation for what SEBP is today.
A PIF‐regulated switch in cell axis growth drives cotyledon expansion through tissue‐specific cell expansion and division
INTRODUCTION Cotyledons are embryonic leaves vital for seedling establishment and the early stages of plant development after germination (Wang et al., 2019). In Arabidopsis, they are rich in lipids and serve as a nutrient source to fuel seedling development, including the differentiation of the cotyledon embryonic proplastids.
A PIF- and GUN1-regulated switch in cell axis growth drives cotyledon expansion through tissue-specific cell expansion and division
Abstract Despite its crucial role during seedling deetiolation, cotyledon expansion has been largely overlooked, with hypocotyl elongation favored as the primary phenotypic readout in light signaling research. Here, we investigate how cotyledon expansion is regulated during seedling establishment, and reveal that light-induced cotyledon expansion involves a rapid switch in growth direction - from longitudinal in darkness to transversal upon initial light exposure.
MoCloro: an extension of the Chlamydomonas reinhardtii modular cloning toolkit for microalgal chloroplast engineering
1 INTRODUCTION Green algae are emerging as promising biotechnological platforms for the sustainable production of bioproducts of interest, such as proteins, lipids, sugars, pigments, alcohols and other bulk chemicals. Microalgae are unicellular algae that possess some intrinsic advantages as green cell factories, as they can grow on atmospheric CO2 and sunlight without using agricultural land (Gangl et al., 2015; Dehghani et al., 2020).
Never copy a Vespa | Lexology
The iconic Vespa is a three-dimensional European trade mark and a design protected by copyright. Represented by Jacobacci & Partners, Piaggio won its legal battle against the Chinese scooter manufacturer Znen. The cumulative protection provided by trade mark, registered design and copyright is an important turning point for the manufacturers of products with a very clear aesthetic value.
Plant Biology: AHL Transcription Factors Inhibit Growth-Promoting PIFs
Summary How do plants respond to abiotic stresses such as drought, salt or cold? A new study in Arabidopsis reveals that the stress-responsive AHLs antagonize the function of the PIF transcription factors to restrict rosette growth and allow resource reallocation for stress-adaptive responses. Vespa crosses the finish line first
The Turin Court of Appeal has recognised that the shape of Piaggio’s famous Vespa scooter is protected as both copyrightable material and a 3D trademark. Figure 1. 3D Vespa Protecting Vespa’s shape After Piaggio supplied evidence of the acquired secondary meaning of its Vespa scooter in 2013, it successfully registered the scooter’s shape as an Italian and European 3D mark. Piaggio moved to enforce its Italian registration during the EICMA trade show in Milan in November 2013.
