Cell is a peer-reviewed scientific journal publishing research papers across a broad range of disciplines within the life sciences. Areas covered include molecular biology, cell biology, systems biology, stem cells, developmental biology, genetics and genomics, proteomics, cancer research, immunology, neuroscience, structural biology, microbiology, virology, physiology, biophysics, and computational biology. The journal was established in 1974 by Benjamin Lewin and is published twice monthly by Cell Press, an imprint of Elsevier. Source

Keywords VPS13 XK lipid transfer scramblase cryo-EM molecular dynamics simulations bridge-like lipid-transfer protein membrane contact sites Introduction In eukaryotes, the lipids that constitute organellar membranes are synthesized primarily in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) before being redistributed to other organelles.
Keywords malaria monoclonal antibodies RIPR vaccines Plasmodium falciparum mAb blood stage Introduction Malaria disease, caused by the parasite Plasmodium falciparum, is a global health problem with an estimated 282 million cases in 2024.1 The WHO currently recommends two malaria vaccines, RTS/S/AS01 and R21/Matrix-M2; however, both vaccines target the same pre-erythrocytic sporozoite stage of the parasite life cycle.
Keywords Th17 IL-23R CHD1 GR EAE phosphoproteomics steroid resistance Introduction CD4+IL-17-producing T helper cells (Th17) that exhibit a nonpathogenic phenotype maintain tissue homeostasis (Th17Hom); however, upon exposure to interleukin 23 (IL-23), they can differentiate into pro-inflammatory Th17 cells (Th17Inf)1,2 that can defend against fungal infections and can also drive autoimmune tissue inflammation.3 IL-23, a member of the IL-12 cytokine family, signals through a heterodimeric...

Main text Gregory J. Hannon passed away in April 2026 at the age of 61. A towering figure in modern molecular biology, Greg influenced remarkably diverse areas of science. His work reshaped our understanding of gene regulation, advanced the discovery of tumor suppressors that regulate the cell-cycle machinery, and uncovered fundamental mechanisms of RNA interference.
Results We trained mice on a simple visuomotor association task.34 Mice were head-fixed in the center of three screens, and they rested their forepaws on a wheel that could be turned leftward or rightward (Figure 1A). To initiate a trial, mice had to hold the wheel still for a randomly selected duration from 0.5 to 2 s. At the beginning of each trial, a static vertical grating was displayed on the right-hand screen, and the position of the stimulus was yoked to the wheel.
