That month is October. That challenge is Inktober. And if you've ever wondered what it actually is, how it works, why people lose their minds over it every year, and whether you should bother joining, this is the guide for you. What Is Inktober, Exactly?

Pakistan's musical heritage runs centuries deep, long before the country even had borders on a map. What emerged after 1947 was something extraordinary: a tradition that fused Sufi devotion, Mughal-era classical training, Punjabi folk energy, and eventually Western pop and rock into a sound no other country on earth could replicate. The country's music is a blend of various influences, including Persian, Arabic, Punjabi, Sindhi, and Afghan.

If you've never seen a Pakistani truck in person, let me just say: nothing I write here will fully prepare you for it. Imagine a freight vehicle so thoroughly covered in painted flowers, calligraphy, mirror mosaics, dangling chains, and hand-carved wood that the actual truck underneath feels almost incidental. Then imagine that truck has bells strung along its undercarriage, so it literally jingles as it rolls down the highway.
