T cell senescence and exhaustion: molecular mechanisms and immune rejuvenation for cancer immunotherapy
Abstract T cell exhaustion and T cell senescence constitute distinct yet partially overlapping differentiation states that collectively constrain T cell functionality. T cell exhaustion arises under conditions of chronic antigen exposure and is characterised by a progressive, hierarchical loss of effector capacity, sustained expression of inhibitory receptors, and extensive transcriptional, epigenetic and metabolic reprogramming.
Novel SLAMF1-derived peptide induces apoptosis in multiple myeloma cells by targeting IRF4 transcription factor for degradation
Abstract Multiple myeloma (MM) is the second most common hematological cancer. It remains incurable, highlighting the urgent need for novel therapeutic targets and treatment strategies. In this study, we investigated a panel of peptides derived from a functional motif of Signaling Lymphocytic Activation Molecule Family 1 (SLAMF1) with single amino acid substitutions and found that several of them exhibited potent anti-cancer activity by inducing MM cell death.
Targeting S100A9 protein affects mTOR-ER stress signaling and increases venetoclax sensitivity in Acute Myeloid Leukemia - Blood Cancer Journal
Abstract Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is a heterogeneous disease with limited treatment options and a high demand for novel targeted therapies. Since myeloid-related protein S100A9 is abundantly expressed in AML, we aimed to unravel the therapeutic impact and underlying mechanisms of targeting both intracellular and extracellular S100A9 protein in AML cell lines and primary patient samples.
