Eliot Faine

Eliot Faine is an early-career journalist in Oakland, covering local communities and governance, higher education, and public health and safety across the Bay Area. Faine believes in empowering communities to self-determine by providing ethically sourced information. . Faine earned two certificates of achievement from Laney College's Journalism program in the fall semester of 2025, and spent the spring semester of 2026 as a co-Editor in Chief of The Citizen, the only student-run news publication in the Peralta Community College District. His reporting has earned recognition from the Journalism Association of Community Colleges, Community College Public Relations Organization, and the Northern California Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

Faine has been a contributing writer to the Bay Area Reporter since July 2025 and will spend the summer of 2026 as a student intern for EdSource.
