Viruses | Free Full-Text | A Novel Quadruple Gene-Deleted BoHV-1-Vectored RVFV Subunit Vaccine Induces Humoral and Cell-Mediated Immune Response against Rift Valley Fever in Calves
1. Introduction Rift Valley fever (RVF) is a mosquito-borne zoonotic viral disease of cattle, sheep, and goats caused by the Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV). The RVFV is an emerging pathogen that maintains high biodefense priority based on its threat to livestock, resulting in high mortality in newborn animals and mass abortion upon infecting pregnant animals. The virus causes hemorrhagic fever in humans [1,2,3]. RVFV-infected animals serve as the source of human infections.
