The origins of the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) can be traced back to civil society efforts during the late 1990s and early 2000s to promote the establishment of common rules for regulating international trade in conventional arms.

Introduction Globally, mental ill health accounts for at least 18% of the global disease burden, with an estimated global annual cost projected at US $6 trillion by 2030 (1, 2). Mental health remains a neglected priority, with underinvestment by policymakers and funders (3). A secondary analysis of longitudinal cohort study data has demonstrated that levels of mental health distress in the population increased further during the COVID-19 pandemic (4).
