Bridge repairs to begin Monday on Interstate 85 south in Macon County

TUSKEGEE, Ala. (WRBL) – Drivers traveling on Interstate 85 south through Macon County should expect delays beginning Monday as crews repair a damaged bridge. According to the Alabama Department of Transportation, work will begin around 7 a.m. Monday, July 6, on the bridge over Uphapee Creek near mile marker 39 in Tuskegee. The outside southbound lane will be closed while crews repair a bridge rail that was damaged in a June 17 crash. ALDOT says the repairs are expected to take about two weeks.

Teen injured after car strikes scooter in Smiths Station Original

SMITHS STATION, Ala. (WRBL) — A 17-year-old was injured Monday after being hit by a vehicle while riding a scooter in Smiths Station, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Emergency personnel at the scene of the accident on Lee Road 430. | Credit: WRBL’s Kevin Roble Sheriff Jay Jones said the teen was taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment. The extent of the teen’s injuries has not been released. The crash happened around 11:44 a.m. in the 1700 block of Lee Road 430.
