Should we stop using the term 'natural disaster?' Original
When we think of the term "natural disaster," we think of the horrific events like Hurricane Katrina, the fires and floods ripping through California, and the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Each of these events began with a natural phenomenon and ended up costing substantial human life and billions of dollars—thus becoming a disaster. The term "natural disaster" has long been used by scientists, media, and politicians to discuss these events.

How to build a simple birdhouse with wooden craft sticks
Are you ever bored on a rainy day? I am always bored on a rainy day. Sometimes I choose to do a craft. My favorite craft to make is a Popsicle birdhouse. Gather supplies: Popsicle sticks and a glue stick. Start assembling: Next, glue the Popsicle sticks into the shape of a solid square to form the bottom. Then make another square with no middle (using only four sticks) and glue it to the bottom. You have to repeat this step, stacking the squares, until the birdhouse is the size you want it to be.
How I got over my peanut allergy
OIT stands for oral immunotherapy. OIT is a program to help kids, teens and adults get rid of their food allergies. I know this because I am an OIT patient and I was extremely allergic to peanuts. OIT is used to desensitize the body to what it thinks is harmful. The idea is similar to allergy shots. I was really scared before my first appointment. I did not know if I would have a reaction or if it would work.
Tennis Hall of Famer Andy Roddick talks with Long Island kids
We were able to meet and interview International Tennis Hall of Fame great Andy Roddick when he was on Long Island recently. Were you surprised to make it into the Tennis Hall of Fame in 2017? I was surprised to make it in 2017. I thought my career resume was enough, maybe, on the basis of some people that were already in. I absolutely did not expect to get in the first year. I don’t know that I was deserving of that, but I was certainly thrilled when it happened.
The Unicorn Scouts Receive Another Ribbon
By Ella Jacobs “Heck ya we did.” “How many do you have now?” “I think that was eight. Plus one first place overall ribbon.” Some asked, “Can the girls really do it? Can they keep up with the boys?” I am very happy to say that I can now answer, “Yes!”, with much pride in my voice. When I was in fifth grade, the original Unicorns and I won second overall at Camporee.
Courting time with tennis greats Courier and Roddick
On Saturday we went to the NYCB Live arena in Uniondale. We were invited to meet tennis legends Andy Roddick and Jim Courier. After going through security, we gathered and discussed the plans for the day. When we arrived at the Coliseum, we have to admit that we were nervous since we did not know what to expect. We went downstairs and waited for our first guest to arrive, Jim Courier. After a while, we went into the press room where we were introduced to Courier and then interviewed him.
