Admixture provides an opportunity for advantageous alleles to spread from one population to another. This process, known as adaptive admixture, can be detected by scanning the genome for regions showing excess local ancestry from a particular source population relative to the genome average.61 Applying this approach, we observed two strong deviations in the local ancestry inference with RFMixv2 using European (TSI), East African (LWK), and South Asian (STU) populations.

Abstract Genomic structural variants (SVs) are central to modern genetics. However, they do not fit easily into the simple classifications and analytical frameworks that work well for single‑nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). The papers in this special issue underscore that SVs cannot be treated as a homogeneous class, nor can their evolutionary consequences be inferred directly from their structural category alone.
