I have lived in this quiet neighborhood for over forty years. My hair is entirely silver now, and my kitchen always smells of cinnamon and steeped chamomile. Over the decades, my rustic tea table has become a silent sanctuary for the broken-hearted. People come here when their secrets are too heavy to carry alone. They know I don't judge; I just listen. But last Tuesday, a young woman named Clara (not her real name) knocked on my door.

The rain was beating heavily against my kitchen window last night, matching the restless energy of the young woman sitting across from me. Her name was Sarah. She is twenty-six, a schoolteacher with a bright smile that, lately, had been entirely swallowed by exhaustion. As I poured her a fresh cup of chamomile tea, she didn't even look at the steam rising from the mug. She just stared at her phone on the wooden table as if it were a venomous snake. "Eleanor," she said, her voice cracking.
