Greg Emerson’s Biography

As mobile project manager at the Wall Street Journal I work with developers, editors and data science teams to develop new features for WSJ's flagship apps and maintain the roadmap for iOS and Android platforms.

Previously, as Newsday.com's deputy editor of emerging technologies, I oversaw the day-to-day editorial direction of the website and mobile apps and served as editorial lead on Newsday's mobile app relaunch in June 2015. I also led Newsday's traffic analytics efforts and directed social media strategy.

I am also an experienced multimedia producer, social media strategist and journalism professor, with specialized knowledge in SEO, web analytics, mobile and social strategy and user interfaces.

As an editor at TheStreet.com, I managed personal finance and wealth management content for a team of writers, managed social media accounts and produced original features and videos on new technology, consumer news and personal finance.

I have also produced video and multimedia for CNNMoney and FLYPMedia.com, and spent two years writing magazine features for Iceland Review Magazine.

My print and multimedia work has been featured in the New York Times, CNNMoney, Newsweek, Yahoo, MSNBC, Scientific American, Sports Illustrated, Latina Magazine and Agence France-Presse, among others.

Specialties: Web analytics, mobile strategy and UX design, social media management and strategy, SEO and just writing good headlines, supervising staff and freelance writers; HTML, CSS, WordPress CMS, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Illustrator.
