Citizen‐rentier‐ship: Delivering the Undocumented to Labour Platforms in Paris

Introduction During the last three years, Paris, like many other cities around the world, saw a proliferation of food delivery orders. This meant more work opportunities with the major labour platforms (Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Stuart, Gorillas, Frichti, and more). The undocumented riders renting or borrowing profiles from “regularised” citizens on these platforms were also at the frontline of the COVID pandemic. In the fall of 2022, Uber Eats launched a drastic deactivation operation.
