Utah has a new congressional map, and a week and a half until Election Day — but it isn’t seeing the same early voting surge as other parts of the country amid afight for control in Washington. Still, with 11 days between Friday — when numbers were last reported — and polls closing, turnout so far looks “really good,” Salt Lake County Clerk Lannie Chapman said. Approximately 8.3% of Utah voters’ ballots had been cast and processed as of Friday morning, according to a social mediapost by Lt. Gov.

A federal judge Friday tossed out a monthslong effort by President Donald Trump’s Justice Department to obtain Utah’s entire, unredacted voter database — for now. In his ruling dismissing the lawsuit against Utah elections chief Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson, Judge David Barlow said the Civil Rights Act does not make the federal government entitled to all of Utah’s election records, contrary to the DOJ’s arguments.
