What was your first job as a journalist?
I was able to work at the Rutland Newspaper, The Rutland Herald through a program called Community News.
How is social media changing news?
Social media allows for immediacy of news and more public interaction than ever.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
As Robin Kwong puts it, we need journalists that are grounded in factual truths, but also honours and speaks to people's emotional truth.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
My high school did not have a newspaper. But, I was a reporter and journalist for my middle school newspaper, The Catamount Times.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Get out into the public, you won't know the people if the people don't know you.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Anytime, any day, any place.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
A pitch to write about Eric Steel's controversial suicide documentary titled "The Bridge".
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
None.... I'm early into my career so fortunately (or unfortunately) I'll do them all.
What's your favorite drink?
A medium brown sugar cinnamon iced latte with almond milk.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Walking on a trail in the forest.
