CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A traffic shift for Deep Creek Bridge goes into effect on Sunday as crews move into the next phase of the $60 million project. Chesapeake police will be on site to help with the transition for drivers and crew. The traffic shift, originally scheduled for Thursday, was delayed because of heavy rain. Engineers said they did not want drivers navigating the new traffic pattern during poor weather conditions.

With hurricane season just weeks away, crews in Norfolk are already taking proactive steps to reduce the risk of widespread power outages. On Tuesday, utility crews worked block by block through the Lafayette neighborhood, cutting back overgrown trees and bushes that pose a threat to power lines. The effort, led by Dominion Energy, is part of an ongoing initiative to minimize storm-related damage. "It's first and foremost a safety reason, " said Billy Nagy with Dominion Energy.

Chesapeake Expressway toll hikes start May 1 Original

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A trip to the Outer Banks just became more expensive for drivers. As of May 1st, the toll rates on the Chesapeake Expressway have increased across the board, affecting all vehicles regardless of size. For standard two-axle vehicles, the base toll is now $4, while drivers of three-axle vehicles will pay $5. However, these rates represent only the starting point.
