For most of us, data centers weren’t a topic on our minds — until they were all over the news. Residents have said they’re driving up electric bills around Virginia, polluting the air in Mississippi and running water taps dry in Georgia. Then the industry came to Florida. In reality, data centers have already been in the state for years — until now, they’ve just more easily blended into cityscapes because they’re smaller than the new hyperscale behemoths that use 100 megawatts of power or more.
