1 Introduction As worldwide energy demand increases, it is inevitable that solar energy-based technologies such as photoelectrochemical fuel production and photovoltaic (PV) electricity generation will play an increasingly important role. Therefore, the motivation to discover new candidate materials as alternatives to PV absorbers remains strong. We are currently faced with the insurmountable pollution of Earth, which is very crucial and critical for humans.
CZTSSe thin film solar cell is a new type of high-efficiency thin film solar cell. It has become a hot spot in the photovoltaic field because of its high absorptivity (∼104 cm−1), high weak light response, high stability, potentially low cost, and environment friendliness [1], [2]. As an optical absorber layer, CZTSSe is an intrinsic P-type multicomponent compound semiconductor material.
Among the methods applied to modify the characteristics of CdSeTe/CdTe stacks, one of the most well-known and widely used procedures is the CdCl2 halide treatment. In this connection, the influence of CdCl2 on microstructural properties, phase distribution and optical properties of CdSeTe/CdTe stack depending on location of the employed surface was investigated.
