Drier air sticks around through midweek, keeping humidity lower, skies mostly sunny, and temps warm. By late week, moisture returns, bringing back rain chances heading into Labor Day Weekend. Today & Tonight:Tuesday will be sunny and mostly dry with lower humidity levels as drier air remains in place. Morning temps will be near 70° and the air will feel less sticky, but a hot afternoon is in store with highs near 94° in Baton Rouge.

Dry air is keeping the start of the week hot but not miserable — think “toasty” instead of “sticky.” Sunshine rules the forecast until late week, when humidity and pop-up storms make a comeback. Today & Tonight: Drier air that moved in over the weekend is sticking around to start the week. Highs will climb into the mid-90s Monday, but lower humidity means it won’t feel quite as oppressive. Heat index values will only be a couple degrees warmer than the actual temperature.

Storms wrap up the workweek Friday, but the weekend turns drier and sunnier. As hurricane season peaks, several Atlantic tropical waves are being monitored — none currently threaten the U.S. Today & Tonight: A weak front lingering just north of the Capital Area will fuel another round of widespread showers and thunderstorms today. Rain chances climb to around 80%, with a few morning storms possible before most activity pops up in the afternoon heat.
