Sacramento's movie-famous thrift shop, Valley Thrift Town will close at the end of August following a decision made by its new owners. Located at 410 El Camino Avenue, the store was previously known simply as Thrift Town and was included in the coming-of-age film “Lady Bird” starring Saoirse Ronan. The movie was primarily shot in Sacramento, the hometown of director Greta Gerwig, and released in 2017. Thrift Town faced sudden closure after a drop in business during the peak of COVID-19.

Historic Sacramento market welcomes Yuba City coffee shop and its strong, sweet brew

Iced coffee with condensed milk. An independent coffee shop out of Yuba City is now operating inside Compton’s Market, the popular longtime East Sacramento grocery store. Steele House Coffee is now serving customers inside the decades-old market’s cafe space at 4065 McKinley Blvd. The shop prides itself in the original and old fashioned flavor of its roasted coffee, said Johnny Daughtery, the manager of the Sacramento location.
