The Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance wage base is projected to be $190,200 for 2027, up from the 2026 wage base of $184,500, the Social Security Board of Trustees said in its 2026 annual report. The annual report projects the OASDI wage base for the next nine years and estimates the wage base to be $267,000 by 2035.

Maryland created civil penalties for child labor violations that equal penalty amounts found in the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, under a bill that went into effect June 1. SB 831 establishes a penalty of up to $16,035 for employers that improperly hire a minor in a hazardous industry or have them work outside of legal work hours for minors.

The hourly minimum wage in Chicago, Illinois, is rising to $17.05 effective July 1 according to a June 8 mayoral press release. This $17.05 minimum wage will also apply to subsidized youth employment programs and subsidized transitional employment programs. Chicago has had a reduced minimum wage rate for these programs, but this is the first year that they will be subject to the city’s full minimum wage, according to the press release.
