Originally from Sydney, Australia, he is currently the Executive Director of the Peace Islands Institute New York and is based in Manhattan, New York city. Previously he was based in Washington DC as the president of Rumi Forum (2009-2019). Both Peace Islands and Rumi Forum are dedicated to interfaith & intercultural understanding and social harmony issues and are affliated with the Hizmet Movement and Fethullah Gulen (see also here). Since 2016 he has been the Chairman of IFLC USA.
He is currently pursuing his PhD in Islamic Studies and has been a research associate at Georgetown University since 2016. Previous to the United States, Emre worked on numerous educational and interfaith based projects in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne including the Australian Intercultural Society. He has a BE (Computer Systems) & MEd (Teaching)
