Since the 19 May end of an 11-week blockade on humanitarian aid into Gaza, more than 1,000 civilians have been killed trying to access food distribution sites. During this period, the Gaza Health Ministry has reported that more than 100 people, including dozens of children, have died from starvation. Conditions have deteriorated enough that it is plausible the U.S. military could again be ordered to intervene to deliver humanitarian aid. It is the Navy’s duty to be prepared to answer that call.

When 180 souls set out into the Bay of Bengal from an overcrowded refugee camp in Bangladesh in December 2022, their hopes were for a new start and a better life in Indonesia.
