1. Introduction Left Ventricular (LV) diastolic function plays an important role in determining the kinetics and quality of ventricular filling and thereby also the stroke volume. It can be defined as the capacity of the heart to relax and distend during diastoles leading to fulfilling of the LV chamber up to an appropriate telediastolic volume. Diastolic dysfunction is defined by the incapacity of the ventricle to fill in even if the atrial pressure is normal.
