Abstract What makes people “click” on a first date and become mutually attracted to one another? While understanding and predicting the dynamics of romantic interactions used to be exclusive to human judgment, we show that Large Language Models (LLMs) demonstrate some capacity to detect linguistic cues of romantic attraction during brief getting-to-know-you interactions.
Assessment Center (AC) judgments based on assessors' observations of applicants in interpersonal role-plays are a key method for evaluating complex social skills for the selection and development of applicants and employees (e.g., Breil et al. 2023; Oliver et al. 2016). Despite their frequent use and proven utility (Sackett, Shewach, and Keiser 2017; Sackett et al. 2022), the actual behavioral basis of assessors' performance judgments in ACs is still underexplored.
INTRODUCTION Resumé screening is cost-effective and highly accepted by applicants (e.g., Marcus, 2003; Moscoso & Salgado, 2004; Steiner & Gilliland, 1996) making it the most applied personnel selection procedure (e.g., König et al., 2010; Schuler et al., 2007; Zibarras & Woods, 2010).
