Eric Porter's Big Dumb Ride
Whenever Seth and I go on a trip, we try to drag along some friends, especially now that our travel time is far more limited than it was in years past. Good buddy Eric Porter is one of the usual suspects who often joins, so when we planned to be in Crested Butte last September, he was an easy one to bring along. Unlike Seth and me, who are recovering from the first few years of parenthood, Porter has somehow been able to maintain peak physical fitness for his entire life.

What Airports Can Tell Us About Histories of Regional Development
Opening gala for the Central Passenger Terminal at San Francisco International Airport, August 27, 1954. In the runup to the 2022 holiday season, cabin cleaners, baggage handlers, janitors, security guards, and other workers walked off the job at fifteen airports in the United States to protest low wages and difficult labor conditions.

Here we are a new year and a new artist on the scene! Just kidding, it’s me Afrikan Sciences but I have stripped away the mysterious moniker which is usually confused for a term rather than an individual. I decided to present a project under the name my parents gave me at birth. Something about growing in age causes us to reflect at times. This project is special in that it’s a reflection of where I am at this moment in time, Looking forward and propelling from whence I have come.
Why Airports Are Places We Should All be More Interested In
By Eric Porter, author of A People’s History of SFO: The Making of the Bay Area and an Airport For many people, airports may seem like alienating “nonplaces”—as anthropologist Marc Augé put it—where we rush to make connections and spend long, monotonous hours waiting for delayed flights. But I’ve long seen airports as fascinating sites that can tell us a lot about where they are situated.
8 CSS & JavaScript Snippets That Enhance Hamburger Menus
The hamburger menu has become synonymous with mobile apps and websites. It neatly hides navigation items until users need them. They’re great for saving space when screen real estate is limited. And we’re also seeing them utilized more on desktop devices as well. This makes sense for large, complicated menus and scenarios where content needs to be the main focus. Yes, hamburgers are everywhere these days. What’s more, this type of navigation is incredibly flexible.
Living with wolves not possible for ranchers
By Eric Porter, Baker City Ore. I feel very disgusted at the person that would lower themselves to the nasty gram message in Rona Johnson article “Sticks and Stones.” Obviously, they have no agricultural background and no understanding of what livestock producers go through dealing with wolves. After reading the Sticks and Stones article I decided I needed to respond.

Read ‘The Real Wolf’ to get the facts about dangers of reintroduction
We have been very involved with the wolf reintroduction program in Oregon. The first pack in Oregon was the Imnaha pack and we own a ranch right in the middle of where this pack is located. It's a very helpless feeling when you can't control the savagery and brutality that wolves inflict on your livestock. I will not go into the hell wolves have caused us but I would encourage everyone, especially people who are not connected to the outdoors to read "The Real Wolf" by Ted B. Lyon and Will N. Graves.
