Revascularization of Complex Coronary Artery Disease in Elderly Patients
A principal challenge of practicing geriatric medicine is the opportunity to care for older adults with diverse functional capacities.1 As chronic comorbidities increase in prevalence with an aging population, all physicians, including interventional cardiologists (ICs), need to understand the nuances of caring for a patient population with a wide range of frailty and goals for care.1,2 Age bias interferes with evidence-based health care at all levels of medical training.
Hemodynamic Collapse in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory: Prevent, Prepare, Manage, and Recover
“Never walk into a room you don’t know how to walk out of.” Hemodynamic collapse is one of the most catastrophic and feared complications of elective and nonelective percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), and it is the final common pathway for multiple emergency scenarios in the cardiac catheterization laboratory (CCL).
Affordability and Equity Considerations for Rate‐Setting
Historically narrow definitions of water service as provision of a metered commodity do not encompass the extent to which all people benefit from access to safe, reliable water. A more expansive definition of water service is warranted. Why Flint Matters
Eventually potable water service will be restored in Flint, Mich., and the legions of bottled water distributors will retreat, but the crisis will have lasting, searing effects on the health and well-being of the city's residents as well as its long-suffering economy. For Flint, mitigation measures must be broad-based and sustained over a future generation.
Water Demand Monitoring in Austin, Texas
In response to challenges to contractually determined wholesale rates, rising revenue requirements, and demands for rate equity, the Austin (Texas) Water and Wastewater Utility is scheduled to implement wholesale cost-based rates in November 1992.
