Methods and analysis Study design and participants A precision-based approach was employed to calculate the sample size, considering the estimated proportion of subjects compliant with Mediterranean dietary patterns. Since literature reports a wide range of levels of compliance,7 16 the required sample size was calculated for an estimated proportion of compliant subjects ranging from 40% to 5%, with a precision of 0.05 at a 0.95 confidence level (1-alpha).
