After falling in love with surfing as a teenager during a gap-year trip to Australia, Montreal-based June Swimwear founder Julie M. Dumais was motivated to create her own take on bathing suits. In 2008, as a design student at Lasalle College in Montreal, Gogna launched her label after her debut collection captivated audiences at a showcase. She started approaching local shops to see if they would be interested in carrying her pieces and eventually landed her first retail customer: Boutique 1861.

Dida Jewelry In Chinese, dida is an onomatopoeia for the sound of rain falling. Similar to how a gentle, misty drizzle seamlessly melts into the skin, Joy Yang’s Dida Jewelry feels natural on the body. While studying material art and design at OCAD University, Yang fell in love with metalsmithing and turned to jewellery as a way to weave her interest in sculpture into her practice. “It’s really fun to see how I can use sheets of raw material and turn them into a completed piece,” she says.
