The San Jose Sharks have added another goaltender with NHL games on his resume to the team’s roster. The Sharks have signed Ilya Samsonov to a one-year, two-way contract. According to PuckPedia, the goaltender has a $850,000 cap hit whether he’s playing in the AHL or the NHL. The 29-year-old Samsonov played in the KHL last season, where he appeared in 14 games of HK Sochi and finished the season with a 3.27 goals-against average and .903 save percentage. He also had one shutout.

Sometimes with hockey prospects, you have to be patient, and that’s just what might need to happen with San Jose Sharks prospect Mattias Havelid. Since he was drafted in 2022, the 22-year-old defenseman hasn’t made many waves the way other prospects in our pool have. In fact, he’s dropped down our Top 25 Under 25 list every season since his draft year, going from 13th to 22nd to 23rd and now he’s at 24th.

Two Men Killed in Wrong-Way Crash in Santa Clara Identified

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the two men killed in a wrong-way crash in Santa Clara just before noon on Aug. 26. The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified 58-year-old Stephen Hinkson of San Carlos and 39-year-old Keith Demarest, whose city of residence was not released. According to Santa Clara police, the men were in separate vehicles at the time of the crash. One was driving a GMC SUV and the other a silver Honda pickup truck.
