Erika Mackinnon’s Biography

Erika Mackinnon has spent the last five years building a steady and accomplished career in medical sales. She has steadily advanced within her field with a strong foundation in business development, strategy, revenue maximization, market research, sales forecasting, product presentations, account oversight, and client relationship management. Since 2020, she has worked specifically in medical device sales, concentrating on spine-related solutions. In her current position as a Spine Specialist and Sales Associate, she plays an active role in the operating room daily.

Her career path began after completing an intensive 440-hour postgraduate program at Medical Sales College in Sarasota, Florida. Erika earned her Spine, Orthopedic Reconstruction, and Trauma certification through this training. She developed core competencies in regenerative medicine, orthopedic and trauma devices, consultative sales, and business growth strategies. These tools helped her prepare for the demands of territory development and securing new business relationships.

Mackinnon also acquired deep knowledge of procedures and products related to spine, biologics, sports medicine, and orthopedic reconstruction. Along with her technical understanding, she built the communication skills necessary for engaging with various healthcare audiences. Her academic background included studies in anatomy, physiology, pathology, biomechanics, orthobiologics, and medical terminology. She learned to navigate operating room practices and hospital systems, strengthening her ability to identify and align provider needs with effective product options.

While earning her certification, Erika joined SS Fusion Medica in Tampa, Florida, as a Sales Associate. Her responsibilities included supporting territory coverage, scheduling with physicians and care teams, and maintaining connections with medical professionals and administrative staff.

After a year, Mackinnon transitioned to a role at Globus Medical in Memphis, Tennessee, where she has worked for four years. Her current role involves supporting sales growth, maintaining provider relationships, expanding her client base, and offering advanced procedural support. She is knowledgeable in numerous surgeries such as ACDF, PCF, TLIF, PLIF, ALIF, lateral approaches, and complex spinal corrections.

Erika holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from Florida State University, graduating in 2016. Her early work included serving as a Chief Legislative Intern with the Florida Senate, where she helped draft materials, monitored legislation, and met with various stakeholders. She later worked as a junior lobbyist and political fundraiser.

Her background includes experience as a Business Development Analyst at GSSP in Stamford, Connecticut, where she performed policy analysis and supported strategic transactions. Later, she served as Deputy Finance Director at The O’Rourke Group, where she cultivated relationships to secure funding, led outreach campaigns, and conducted donor research.

Mackinnon holds several certifications, including AdvaMed Code of Ethics, HIPAA, Aseptic Technique and Infection Control, Bloodborne Pathogens, Electrical Safety, Fire Safety, National Patient Safety, and Protocol Certification.

Erika has a strong personal interest in interior design. After purchasing her home, she redesigned the space by blending antique, modern, and traditional styles. She enjoys turning secondhand pieces into refreshed, practical designs and may consider a future in the field.

As a mother of two, Mackinnon also values time in the kitchen and is known for preparing food that is both flavorful and visually appealing. Cooking remains a meaningful activity shared with family and friends.

Erika supports charitable causes, including the Salvation Army and the Humane Society, and she reflects her dedication to helping others and supporting animal welfare.
