It’s been 13 years since a mockumentary won an Emmy for editing. Since that win, which went to David Rogers and Claire Scanlon for The Office’s series finale, and 2019, only two other mockumentaries, Modern Family and What We Do In The Shadows, have been nominated in the category. It’s a curious bias on a pure numbers level, considering how many comedies took on the language of nonfiction film and unscripted TV in the wake of The Office’s and Modern Family’s popularity.
