My name is Erin Rhone, and I am a recovering shopaholic. At the end of 2020, I was coming off a rather large online shopping binge, so, fuelled by shame, the muffled cries of my ever-dwindling bank balance and an urge to do my bit for the environment, I decided to go cold turkey. According to Clean Up Australia, we dump 15 tonnes of clothing and fabric waste across the country every 10 minutes. That adds up to about 800,000 tonnes, or 31 kilograms per person, every year. Yikes.

On the flip side, we shame those who're carrying extra kilos by often excluding larger body types from the narratives we see in advertising, television or movies. The irony of course is that as a bodybuilder I still have stretch marks, I still have cellulite and I still have saggy skin in weird places.

I’ve just finished watching the limited series Maid on Netflix about young mother Alex, (played by Margaret Qualley) and her struggle to flee an abusive partner - and it’s made me realise that my previous relationship was emotionally and financially abusive.
