Effects of Genotype and Laying Stage on Egg Traits and Hatchability in Breeder Geese
1 Introduction Hatching egg characteristics are critical importance, as embryonic growth and development begin within the egg (Onbaşılar et al. 2018a). Egg quality is generally described through external and internal traits. External characteristics, such as egg weight, shell thickness and shape index, have a direct influence on embryo development and hatching success (Grochowska et al. 2019).
Effects of giant fennel (Ferula communis L.) on some performance traits in honey bees during supplementary feeding period

Effects of Zinc Amino Acid Complex Supplementation on Welfare, Carcass Traits, Tibia Health, Meat Quality and Myopathies in Broilers
1 Introduction Broilers primarily obtain trace minerals from feed ingredients such as corn, soybean meal and wheat. However, variations in the mineral content of these ingredients can lead to imbalances or deficiencies, which make supplementation necessary to meet the nutritional needs of poultry. In the broiler industry, high performance is supported by trace minerals.
The Effects of Green LED Lighting During Incubation on Embryo Growth, Hatching Performance, Post‐Hatch Growth Performance, Intestinal Morphology, Slaughter and Carcass Characteristics
1 Introduction Hatchery conditions play a critical role in the poultry industry (Archer 2017). These conditions are particularly significant because embryonic growth and development initiate within the egg (Onbaşılar et al. 2018). As the fundamental structures of the chick form during the embryonic period, any intervention at this stage can substantially impact its welfare and subsequent performance. Key factors in hatcheries include disinfection (Taşdemir et al. 2021; Coulibaly et al.
The potential of sepiolite for sustainable poultry production

The Effects of Shrimp Waste Added to Broiler Diets on Growth Performance, Slaughter and Carcass Characteristics, Intestinal Morphology, Bone Traits, and Fatty Acids in the Meat
1 Introduction Animal waste can be utilised as a raw material for feed preparation and, after proper processing, can also be transformed into fuel, fertiliser, biogas and other valuable products. Furthermore, effectively using these wastes eliminates the need for their disposal. Recycling animal waste is a key aspect of the circular economy and promoting environmental sustainability (Iskakov and Sugirbay 2023). The broiler industry is the sector where animal production is most intense.

Effects of cage type and the light-dark cycle on the behavior of hens subjected to forced molting
1 INTRODUCTION Two issues discussed concerning the welfare of commercial laying hens are cage rearing and forced molting. As the traditional cage system is designed for increased efficiency per unit area, it provides limited behavioral and environmental opportunities for laying hens. This confinement in conventional cages restricts hen behavior, resulting in negative welfare impacts.
Effects of abrupt and gradual light/dark switching on growth performance, behavior, villus development, meat characteristics, and immunity of broilers
1 INTRODUCTION Broilers are considered a significant animal protein source that contributes to the rapidly growing world population. Due to their impact on feed conversion and growth performance, environmental factors are continually scrutinized. Broiler rearing is predominantly carried out in semi or fully environmentally controlled poultry houses. In poultry houses, the temperature, lighting, humidity, and ventilation are necessary for the growth and development of broilers.
Carcass, visceral organ, and meat quality properties of two broiler hybrids differing in growth rates
1 INTRODUCTION Meat and meat products have played an important role in the human diet. Among animals reared for meat production, broilers are the most common worldwide (Pellattiero et al., 2020). Genetic selection programs in broilers have led to rapid growth over many years and increased meat yields, by significantly reducing the slaughter age (Hartcher & Lum, 2020). Fast growing broilers (FGB) achieved 2.7–3.1 kg body weight in 42 days (Aviagen, 2019).
Egg mineral levels, hatching results and bone properties in embryos and chicks obtained from broiler breeders at different ages
1 INTRODUCTION As a result of breeding studies to increase productivity in broiler production, hybrids can reach slaughter weight in a shorter time. Broiler growth increased by more than 400% and feed to gain ratio decreased by about 50% from 1957 to 2005 (Müsse et al., 2022). However, this accelerated growth may lead to metabolic disorders such as skeletal problems from weak legs, bone deformities and fractures, resulting in high financial losses (Quadros et al., 2021).
