Temperatures are expected to cool off tomorrow, and some parts of the UK could see rain too. The Met Office says afternoon temperatures should hit 25C in and around London, with 23C coming in the Midlands, 22C in eastern areas and Wales, 19C in Northern Ireland and 16C in central Scotland. Although weather conditions are expected to be fine and dry for most in England and Wales, rain is expected to sweep across northern England, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Following highs of 35C on Wednesday this week, Met Office forecasters say temperatures should cool off as we head towards the weekend. This week's hot spell was the fourth heatwave of 2026. And weather modelling data now suggests the fifth may be right around the corner. The GFS weather model shows temperatures rising again on Sunday next week (August 9) with 31C highs possible in Gloucestershire, and 29-30C possible quite widely in western and southern areas.

Scotland set for summer washout as Met Office names areas facing heavy rain on Thursday

Heavy rain is being forecast for parts of Scotland tomorrow (Thursday) as July threatens to end with a washout. The Met Office forecast has named 29 areas across the UK facing downpours tomorrow, with temperatures are expected to drop off too, reports The Mirror. Met Office meteorologist Honor Criswick said: "The good news is, if you're not a fan of the heat, that overall temperatures will come down into a slightly cooler day [tomorrow].
