Abstract Thermite reactions –highly energetic redox processes between a metal and an oxide—are used in welding, propulsion, and the fabrication of advanced materials. When reduced to the nanoscale, these reactions exhibit enhanced energetic performance, but their ultrafast dynamics remain poorly understood. Gaining insight into charge transfer during these processes is essential for advancing applications in energy conversion and materials design.

This study was performed on a uniform (U) and a nanostructured (NS) suspended membrane of LPCVD amorphous SiN, with thickness d = 55 nm. The nanostructure consists in a square lattice of pores with A = 377 nm, average diameter D = 149 ± 7 nm and neck N=253 nm (Fig. 1). The nominal density and Young modulus were ρ0=2.9 g/cm3 and E = 270 ± 25 GPa, respectively, as provided by the supplier (see Methods).

Abstract The absence of efficient light modulators for extreme ultraviolet (EUV) and X-ray photons considerably limits their real-life application, particularly when even slight complexity of the beam patterns is required. Here we report on a novel approach to reversible imprinting of a holographic mask in an electronic Wigner crystal material with a sub-90-nm feature size.
